Who can come to The Lawrence Centre?

The Lawrence Centre is mainly for older people in order to prevent social isolation and give Carers a well-deserved break.

Typically a lot of our members have mild to moderate memory issues.

Where are you located?

We are located in the centre of Wells, Somerset and have car parking available to enable our Members to be dropped off and picked up safely.

How much does it cost to attend?

How do we pay?

We ask that our Members or their Carers set up Standing Order to cover the cost of the day(s) of their regular attendance.

How do we get to you if we don’t have a car?

We have a volunteer driver scheme in the local area available to our Members for a small additional cost.


When are you open & how long is a session?

We are open 5 days a week and one Saturday a month from 10am - 2.30pm.

Is lunch included?

We provide a nutritional and delicious lunch at 12pm which includes a homemade soup, well-filled roll, salad and pudding. Hot and cold drinks are available throughout the session.

Do you have disabled access and facilities?

Yes we do*. The building has ramps to access the front door and we have two WCs, one with disabled access.

*Please note we do not provide personal care assistance.

Do you provide support for carers?

Caring for someone living with Dementia is one of the. most demanding roles that there is. We provide support to families at every stage of their journey by providing ongoing information and advice and signposting Carers to relevant organisations. We can also help with filling in Attendance Allowance forms.

What happens in the case of an emergency?

We would contact the carer immediately. We also ask everyone who comes to us to sign a consent form, to agree that in the case of an emergency, we have permission to contact the relevant health care professionals or other appropriate organisations.
